College and university level students around the world are invited to participate in the second annual poster design competition of the Fur Free Alliance.

Students and teachers…

Use your design and communications talents to win a cash prize and a trip to Paris. Due to the phenomenal success of Design Against Fur 2003, the Fur Free Alliance is proud to announce our second annual international Design Against Fur poster contest.

For 2004, DAF competition rounds will be held in the following regions before proceeding to the international Grand Prize Awards in Paris:

Australia & Asia Pacific, Canada, Europe & International,
United Kingdom & Ireland, United States

Each round will offer cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, as well as 25 additional honorable distinction awards. The three finalists of each round will be automatically entered into the international competition to select the 2004 Grand Prize Winner.

The Message

This year, the Design Against Fur message focuses on the problem of fur trim. Although largely unknown among the general public, more animals are being used every year for fur trim than for fur coats, and 90% of foxes are killed for fur trim alone. Designers and retailers are selling more fur-trimmed items then ever.

Your entries should encapsulate and convey graphically, the message that:

“When you buy or wear fur trim you are contributing to the
pain and suffering of animals. Consumers have the power to
stop the killing of animals for fur trim. Buying garments with fur
trim is unnecessary and unfashionable in this modern age.”

There will be no marketing/advertising plan required for this year’s competition.

Further information

Further information on last year’s inaugural competition is available in our DAF 2003 section, including the winning poster designs and honorable distinctions of each round.

In these posters, you’ll see the amazing creativity and passion for animals that the competition ignited. It’s this passion that will carry the humane message forward and make this world a better place for animals and humans alike.

We will be adding new contest information to the site regularly over the next week, so please be sure to check this page again for the latest news, updates and downloads.

We’re looking forward to your joining us for the excitement of Design Against Fur 2004.
