Europe & International Award Ceremony
From GAIA:
"This year we were lucky to have two Belgian students (one French speaking and one Dutch speaking) amongst the winners of the European contest, so we decided to organize a celebration in the schools where these students take classes.

"On October the 19th we held a first celebration in Mons. We invited all French speaking participants, the press and a few prominent figures. A selection of posters was exposed to the public. Pierre Du Ville (representative of the Belgian AW minister) handed over a cheque of 350 pounds and a certificate to Céline Lenoir (2nd prize). The local newspaper La Province wrote an article and radio RTBF came to interview Michel Vandenbosch and Céline Lenoir. After the prize distribution all persons present were offered a drink.

"All Dutch speaking participants were invited to the prize distribution in Hasselt on October the 20th in the PHL (provincial college of higher education), where Ankie Beerten (3rd prize) goes to school. At the same time we celebrated the inauguration of the Design Against Fur exposition. A fine selection of 40 Belgian entries is exposed until November the 18th in the stylish exhibition hall of the college. Mr. Herman Reynders, mayor of Hasselt, handed over the certificate and a 175 pound cheque to Ankie Beerten. At least three newspapers and one local television company came to admire her work. After a few interviews, she could relax and have a drink with the students and the invited guests. The school even spoiled everyone with vegetarian bites."
